The process for obtaining the AMC Certificate involves two pathways:
This pathway is the most common for non-specialist international medical graduates. It involves two examinations: the AMC CAT MCQ and the AMC Clinical Examination. Together, they assess the medical knowledge and clinical skills needed to practice in Australia.
This option includes the AMC CAT MCQ examination followed by a workplace-based assessment of clinical skills and knowledge. The assessments are conducted by an AMC-accredited authority. This pathway has a limited number of places, so only a small number of applicants can be assessed through this method.
